Summer at the Marsh — Broods and Scouts of the Reedbeds

The marsh is in full breeding activity, and young birds are beginning to emerge.

The Sacy Marsh is a world unto itself: rustling reedbeds, floodable meadows, ditches, copses… and a birdlife that shifts from hour to hour. This outing offers a guided discovery — both simple and captivating — to learn how to observe, listen and identify the species typical of wetland environments.

Along the walk, the emphasis is on good fieldcraft: where to look depending on the season, how to use binoculars and a spotting scope, recognising flight silhouettes, picking up on clues (calls, movements, behaviours), and understanding why a given bird favours one spot over another.

The outing is suited to beginners and those already familiar with birdwatching alike, in a friendly spirit: we take our time, we share, we progress. Bring boots (very wet terrain), weather-appropriate clothing, and binoculars if possible (tips will be provided on site).
